Cavity vat photopolymerisation for additive manufacturing of polymer-composite 3D objects

چکیده
Abstract Vat photopolymerisation describes resin-based additive manufacturing processes in which ultraviolet light is used to layer-wise solidify liquid resin into a desired 3D shape. If the starting dual-curing formulation object also thermally cured attain its final properties, obtaining either an elastomer or thermoset. Here, we introduce cavity vat photopolymerisation, one photopolymer produces composite material of and Cavities any geometry are purposefully designed solid then filled with during printing due negative pressure. Thermal curing solidifies cavities elastomer, forming distinct interface held together by strong covalent bonds. Hybrid specimens indicate improved damping, reduced fragmentation upon fracture increased local elasticity, suggest several hard-shell/soft-core applications that might benefit.

From Cellulose to 3D Objects: 3D printing with a biobased polymer for CO2-neutral manufacturing
In our modern world, eliminating plastics is inconceivable. Unfortunately, they do have disadvantages, including the formation of CO2 in both production and combustion, depletion of fossil feedstocks, and growth of landfills. In the journal Angewandte Chemie, Russian researchers introduce a new way forward, a polymer made entirely from biomass that can easily and inexpensively be used in 3D pri...
متن کاملAdditive Manufacturing Techniques for the Reconstruction of 3D Fetal Faces
This paper deals with additive manufacturing techniques for the creation of 3D fetal face models starting from routine 3D ultrasound data. In particular, two distinct themes are addressed. First, a method for processing and building 3D models based on the use of medical image processing techniques is proposed. Second, the preliminary results of a questionnaire distributed to future parents cons...
متن کاملLaser additive manufacturing of 3D meshes for optical applications
Selective laser melting (SLM) is a widely used additive manufacturing process that can be used for printing of intricate three dimensional (3D) metallic structures. Here we demonstrate the fabrication of titanium alloy Ti-6Al-4V alloy based 3D meshes with nodally-connected diamond like unit cells, with lattice spacing varying from 400 to 1000 microns. A Concept Laser M2 system equipped with las...
متن کاملOne-step volumetric additive manufacturing of complex polymer structures
Two limitations of additive manufacturing methods that arise from layer-based fabrication are slow speed and geometric constraints (which include poor surface quality). Both limitations are overcome in the work reported here, introducing a new volumetric additive fabrication paradigm that produces photopolymer structures with complex nonperiodic three-dimensional geometries on a time scale of s...
متن کاملPolymers for 3D Printing and Customized Additive Manufacturing
Additive manufacturing (AM) alias 3D printing translates computer-aided design (CAD) virtual 3D models into physical objects. By digital slicing of CAD, 3D scan, or tomography data, AM builds objects layer by layer without the need for molds or machining. AM enables decentralized fabrication of customized objects on demand by exploiting digital information storage and retrieval via the Internet...
